David De Leon
Political Science, CSULB · Intern, California State Senate
I'm David De Leon, a political science senior at California State University, Long Beach, with hands-on experience in local and state government in Orange County and Long Beach, California. I begin as an intern in the office of California State Senator Tony Strickland in fall 2026.
My work centers on constituent casework, permit review, community events, and the operational detail that keeps a district office running.
My aim is legislative work: bill research and analysis, committee and stakeholder briefings, and turning what constituents report at the district level into policy that holds up in Sacramento.
Mission
Job-market insecurity is something every college student feels. My mission is to use the position and the network I have to open real doors for students: internships in district and legislative offices, campaign roles, and the introductions that lead to a first job.
